Key Responsibilities
- Assist special education teachers in implementing music-based activities and lessons for students with diverse learning needs.
- Support students individually and in small groups during music therapy sessions or musical instruction.
- Adapt musical activities and materials to meet the specific developmental and educational goals of each student.
- Encourage student participation, engagement, and self-expression through various musical forms and instruments.
- Observe and document student progress, behavior, and responses to musical interventions.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and other staff members to integrate music into broader educational plans.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Assist with classroom management and provide direct support to students as needed throughout the school day.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions provided by the district.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- A genuine passion for music and its therapeutic potential.
- Empathy, patience, and a strong desire to work with children with special needs.
- Basic understanding of musical concepts and ability to play simple instruments (e.g., keyboard, guitar, percussion) or sing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
