Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sound Reinforcement Technician with a strong focus on House of Worship environments to join our stable and growing team. This role is crucial for ensuring pristine audio quality for services, events, and recordings. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of live sound principles, audio mixing consoles (both analog and digital), microphone techniques, and troubleshooting. You will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of sound systems, working closely with worship leaders and technical teams to achieve optimal audio experiences. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Land O’ Lakes facility, with regular travel to client sites within the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and mix front-of-house (FOH) and monitor sound for worship services, rehearsals, and special events.
  • Set up, test, and troubleshoot audio equipment including microphones, mixers, amplifiers, speakers, and signal processors.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on audio systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with worship leaders, musicians, and other technical staff to understand specific audio needs and deliver a seamless experience.
  • Assist with the installation and integration of new audio equipment and systems at client sites.
  • Provide training and support to volunteer audio teams at various houses of worship.
  • Document system configurations, maintenance records, and operational procedures.
  • Stay current with emerging audio technologies and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in live sound reinforcement, with significant experience in house of worship settings.
  • Proficiency in operating digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Allen & Heath, Midas).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, gain structure, and equalization.
  • Expertise in microphone selection, placement, and vocal/instrument miking techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio issues quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with various audio software and hardware platforms (e.g., Dante, AVB, Waves).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Certifications from major audio equipment manufacturers (e.g., Dante Certification, Q-SYS Level 1/2).
  • Experience with AV over IP technologies.
  • Knowledge of theatrical lighting and video systems integration.
  • Proficiency with audio measurement and analysis tools (e.g., Smaart, Room EQ Wizard).
