Job Description
We are seeking experienced and self-motivated Solo Over-The-Road (OTR) Drivers to join our dynamic team in Memphis, TN. This unique opportunity allows you to choose your own loads, providing unparalleled flexibility and control over your routes and schedule. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently over long distances.
- Select and accept loads based on personal preference and company guidelines.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT hours of service.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit all required paperwork promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Represent FedEx Freight professionally at all times.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and commitments.
- Perform minor roadside adjustments or repairs as necessary.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years verifiable OTR driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major preventable accidents or violations in the last 3 years
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures
- Proficient in using ELDs and other trucking technology
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physical ability to perform duties associated with commercial driving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazmat endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Experience with various types of freight and trailers
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and dispatch software
