Job Description

Join Fayette County Public Schools as a Professional Sedan Aide, a vital role focused on providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for students, primarily during school hours. This part-time position is ideal for individuals seeking meaningful work that fits within a school-friendly schedule. You will be responsible for transporting students to and from school, special programs, or appointments, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. This role requires excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to student well-being, and the ability to maintain a positive and supportive environment during transit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a sedan to transport students along designated routes or for specific appointments.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and school district transportation policies and procedures.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and operational readiness of the assigned vehicle.
  • Assist students with boarding and alighting, including securing car seats or booster seats as needed.
  • Maintain a professional, patient, and friendly demeanor with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, school personnel, and parents regarding student transportation.
  • Respond to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances calmly and according to established protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

Required Skills

  • Valid Kentucky driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable driving experience.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with children.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to schedules.
  • Ability to operate a GPS device and navigate efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or in an educational setting.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of Fayette County road systems.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
