Job Description
Are you a highly motivated individual with a passion for research and writing, eager to delve into the world of public policy and corporate white paper drafting? MGM Resorts International is seeking a bright and enthusiastic Policy Writing Assistant to join our Corporate Affairs team in Henderson. This entry-level role is an exceptional opportunity to learn the intricacies of policy analysis, legislative tracking, and the development of compelling white papers that inform internal strategies and external stakeholders. You will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate environment and developing critical skills in policy communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research on various public policy issues relevant to the hospitality, gaming, and entertainment industries, including regulatory changes, economic trends, and social impact.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading policy briefs, white papers, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external audiences.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at local, state, and federal levels, summarizing key information for senior staff.
- Support the preparation of materials for meetings with government officials, industry associations, and non-profit organizations.
- Organize and maintain a repository of research documents, policy statements, and white paper drafts.
- Collaborate with legal, corporate communications, and other internal departments to ensure accuracy and consistency in policy messaging.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving policy research and communication strategies.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong research and analytical abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and persuasive language.
- Demonstrated interest in public policy, government affairs, or corporate social responsibility.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, English, Economics, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
- Familiarity with legislative processes and policy analysis frameworks.
- Experience with academic research, report writing, or debate club participation.
