PetSmart is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pet Food Store Nutritional Advisor to join our team in Mansfield, OH. In this vital role, you will be the go-to expert for pet nutrition, guiding customers through our extensive range of food products and helping them select the best options for their pets’ health and well-being. This position combines your love for animals with your retail sales skills, offering a rewarding career where you make a real difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on pet nutrition, dietary needs, and product recommendations to customers.
- Engage customers in conversations about their pets' health, age, breed, and activity levels to suggest appropriate food solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on various pet food brands, ingredients, and nutritional science.
- Assist with merchandising, stocking shelves, and ensuring the pet food section is well-organized and appealing.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash and card payments.
- Educate customers on proper feeding techniques, portion control, and the benefits of specific dietary choices.
- Promote PetSmart's loyalty programs, services, and special offers.
- Maintain a clean and safe store environment, especially in the pet food areas.
Required Skills
- Proven passion for pets and animal welfare.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and retain detailed product knowledge, particularly in pet nutrition.
- Basic computer proficiency for POS systems and inventory management.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy bags of pet food (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in pet retail, animal care, or a related field.
- Certifications in pet nutrition or animal health are a plus.
- Experience with merchandising and retail operations.
- Strong sales acumen with a customer-centric approach.
