Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pain Management Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team in Elk Grove, CA. This role offers a stable Monday-Friday schedule, focusing on direct patient care within our pain management clinic. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. You will collaborate closely with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute personalized care plans, educate patients and families, and advocate for optimal pain relief and functional improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pain assessments, including physical examination, pain history, and functional status.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments, including injections, infusions, and other therapeutic interventions as prescribed.
  • Provide patient and family education on pain management techniques, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and self-care strategies.
  • Monitor patient response to treatment, identify potential complications, and adjust care plans in collaboration with the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and ensure holistic patient management.
  • Adhere to all professional nursing standards, ethical guidelines, and Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures.
  • Assist with clinic procedures and patient flow, ensuring efficient and high-quality care delivery.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient comfort and addressing concerns effectively.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in pain management, palliative care, or a related specialty.
  • Strong knowledge of pain physiology, pharmacology, and various pain assessment tools.
  • Proficiency in administering injections (e.g., nerve blocks, trigger point injections) and managing infusion therapies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Competency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • BLS certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with pain management focus.
  • Certification in Pain Management (e.g., ANCC Pain Management Nurse certification).
  • Experience with Kaiser Permanente systems and protocols.
  • Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish).
