Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical-Surgical Nurse Practitioner for an Advanced Clinical Rotation within our esteemed healthcare system in Schaumburg, Illinois. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation, under the guidance of supervising physicians and senior NPs.
- Participate in daily rounds, contribute to treatment planning, and manage patient care transitions.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and perform therapeutic procedures within scope of practice.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and self-management strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development and actively participate in clinical conferences and educational sessions.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice within the medical-surgical unit.
Required Skills
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Illinois.
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC or AANP) with Medical-Surgical or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP specialization.
- Master's or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and formulate differential diagnoses.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a medical-surgical or acute care setting.
- Experience with advanced clinical procedures and interventions.
- Strong interest in medical-surgical sub-specialties or specific patient populations.
- Membership in professional organizations related to advanced practice nursing or medical-surgical nursing.
