Job Description

Join Omnicare as a Long-Term Care (LTC) Pharmacy Technician and become a vital part of our specialized pharmacy operations. This role offers a unique opportunity for pharmacy professionals to focus on the technical aspects of medication preparation and distribution without direct patient or customer interaction. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring the precise and timely delivery of medications to residents in long-term care facilities, contributing directly to their well-being. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately fill and package prescription orders for long-term care residents under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Perform data entry for prescription orders, ensuring all information is correct and complete.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications, and ensuring proper storage conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists regarding prescription clarifications, drug interactions, and potential issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment, adhering to all state and federal regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of specialized medication packaging (e.g., blister packs, unit dose) as required by facilities.
  • Operate pharmacy automation systems and equipment proficiently.
  • Participate in quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or equivalent state registration/licensure in Texas
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (1+ year) as a Pharmacy Technician, especially in a long-term care, retail, or hospital setting.
  • Familiarity with Omnicare systems and procedures.
  • Experience with pharmacy automation technology.
