Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Independent Subtitle Writer with a strong focus on creative media to join our network of contractors. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise, contextually accurate, and culturally sensitive subtitles for a wide range of Amazon Prime Video content, including films, TV series, documentaries, and promotional materials. Key Responsibilities
- Generate accurate and grammatically correct subtitles for various video content, ensuring synchronization with on-screen audio and visuals.
- Adapt existing scripts or create new subtitles from scratch, capturing the tone, nuance, and intent of the original dialogue.
- Adhere strictly to style guides, technical specifications, and quality standards provided by Amazon.
- Conduct thorough research on terminology, cultural references, and character names to ensure subtitle accuracy.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines and turnaround times.
- Utilize professional subtitling software and tools efficiently.
- Incorporate feedback promptly and make necessary revisions to improve subtitle quality.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all content and project materials.
Required Skills
- Native-level fluency in English with exceptional grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Demonstrable experience (minimum 2 years) in professional subtitling, transcription, or localization for creative media.
- Proficiency with industry-standard subtitling software (e.g., EZTitles, Subtitle Edit, Ooona, Rev.com tools).
- Strong understanding of subtitling conventions, timing, and reading speed guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of cultural nuances and ability to adapt content appropriately.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, Film Studies, or a related field.
- Experience with different video content genres (e.g., drama, comedy, documentary, animation).
- Familiarity with various media platforms and content management systems.
