Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Energy Sector Analyst with a strong data intelligence focus to join our team in Tempe, AZ. This role will primarily concentrate on the dynamic Houston energy market, leveraging advanced data analytics to provide strategic insights into market trends, competitive landscapes, regulatory impacts, and emerging opportunities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in transforming complex data sets into actionable intelligence that drives informed business decisions across our diverse energy portfolio, with a particular emphasis on the Houston market’s unique characteristics and players. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical strategic planning and operational optimization within a leading global energy company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of the Houston energy market, including supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, infrastructure developments, and regulatory changes.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics tools and methodologies to identify patterns, forecast market movements, and assess risks and opportunities within the Houston energy sector.
  • Develop and maintain complex data models, dashboards, and reports to visualize key performance indicators and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
  • Monitor competitor activities, technological advancements, and geopolitical events impacting the Houston energy landscape.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including trading, strategy, and business development, to integrate market intelligence into strategic planning and operational decisions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management, providing data-driven insights to support investment decisions and business strategy.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal policies and industry standards.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy market analysis, financial analysis, or data intelligence within the energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of the Houston energy market, including oil & gas, renewables, and power generation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, interpret, and present complex data sets effectively.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with experience conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA with a focus on Energy, Finance, or Data Analytics.
  • Experience with econometric modeling or machine learning techniques applied to energy markets.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools for infrastructure analysis.
