Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Homeland Security Policy Aide with a strong focus on Emergency Management to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This role involves supporting the development, analysis, and implementation of policies and procedures related to homeland security and emergency preparedness. The successful candidate will work closely with senior policy analysts and various stakeholders, contributing to initiatives that enhance national and local resilience against a wide range of threats and hazards. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research, analysis, and drafting of policy documents, reports, and briefings on homeland security and emergency management topics.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of emergency preparedness exercises and drills.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to homeland security and emergency response.
  • Compile and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and inform policy recommendations.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with internal teams, government agencies, and external partners.
  • Prepare presentations and informational materials for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in emergency management and homeland security.
  • Support incident response and recovery operations as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Prior internship or professional experience in homeland security, emergency management, or government affairs.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local emergency management frameworks (e.g., NIMS, ICS).
  • Experience with data analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
