Job Description
Are you a passionate and skilled drummer with a flair for inspiring young musicians? School of Rock in Oakland is seeking an enthusiastic Drum Teacher for our high-energy studio, specifically for afternoon shifts. This role is perfect for an experienced musician who loves to teach and thrives in a vibrant, performance-oriented atmosphere. You will be responsible for providing engaging drum instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels, guiding them through our proven curriculum, and preparing them for live performances. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective one-on-one and group drum lessons in a high-energy studio setting.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the School of Rock curriculum and student needs.
- Inspire, motivate, and mentor students of all ages and skill levels, fostering their musical growth and confidence.
- Prepare students for live performances, including rehearsals and stage presence.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress and goals.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and clean learning environment.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and enriching student experience.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in drumming across various genres (rock, jazz, funk, etc.).
- Proven ability to teach and communicate complex musical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple students and schedules.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and inspiring demeanor.
- Ability to read and teach sheet music, tablature, and rhythmic notation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching drums in a formal or informal setting.
- Professional performance experience as a drummer.
- Knowledge of music theory and history.
- Experience with various drum kits, electronic drums, and percussion instruments.
