Job Description
We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Critical Care Transport Nurse to join our dynamic team in Rosslyn, Virginia. This high-intensity role demands superior clinical expertise, quick decision-making, and unwavering composure under pressure. As a key member of our transport team, you will be responsible for providing advanced critical care to patients during inter-facility transfers and emergency responses, often utilizing specialized transport vehicles. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to adult and pediatric patients during ground and potentially air transport.
- Perform rapid and thorough patient assessments, initiate and manage advanced life support interventions, and administer medications as per protocol.
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical equipment including ventilators, IV pumps, cardiac monitors, and specialized transport devices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and transport documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the transport process.
- Participate in ongoing training, simulations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as MedStar Health policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia (or compact state licensure).
- Minimum of 4 years of recent critical care experience (ICU, ED, CCU).
- Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications.
- Proven ability to function autonomously and make critical decisions in high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Strong clinical assessment and advanced intervention skills.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver patients and equipment in confined spaces and varying conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
- Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
- Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification.
- Prior experience in critical care transport (ground or air).
- Experience with specific transport medical equipment and protocols.
