Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and innovative Creative Arts Therapist to join our dedicated mental health clinic in New Port Richey, FL. This role is integral to our holistic approach to patient care, utilizing various art forms, music, drama, and dance to help individuals express themselves, cope with trauma, manage stress, and improve cognitive and motor skills. The Creative Arts Therapist will work with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults, both in individual and group settings. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized and group creative arts therapy programs tailored to patient needs and treatment goals.
- Facilitate therapeutic art, music, drama, or dance sessions to promote emotional expression, communication, and cognitive function.
- Assess patient progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary, documenting all observations and interventions accurately.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to ensure integrated care.
- Educate patients and their families about the benefits of creative arts therapy and engage them in the therapeutic process.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating therapeutic environment.
- Adhere to all ethical guidelines and professional standards for creative arts therapy.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Creative Arts Therapy (Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Drama Therapy, or Dance/Movement Therapy).
- Current licensure or certification (e.g., ATR-BC, MT-BC, RDT, BC-DMT) relevant to the specific creative arts therapy modality.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working in a mental health setting.
- Proficiency in conducting individual and group therapy sessions.
- Strong understanding of mental health conditions and therapeutic techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diverse patient populations, including children and adolescents.
- Specialized training or certification in trauma-informed care or specific therapeutic approaches.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) is a plus.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
