Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Brewing Chemist to join our innovative beverage science team in Naperville, Illinois. This role is central to ensuring the quality, consistency, and innovation of our diverse product portfolio. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting chemical analyses, supporting R&D projects, and troubleshooting brewing processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various analytical techniques (e.g., GC, HPLC, spectrophotometry).
  • Monitor and evaluate key quality parameters, ensuring compliance with internal specifications and industry standards.
  • Support new product development and optimization initiatives through laboratory testing and data interpretation.
  • Troubleshoot brewing and fermentation processes by identifying chemical variances and proposing corrective actions.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Develop and validate new analytical methods as needed to support evolving business requirements.
  • Document all experimental data, analyses, and findings thoroughly and accurately.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with brewing, quality assurance, and R&D teams to achieve project goals.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Proficiency in common analytical laboratory techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, chromatography).
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles relevant to brewing and beverage production.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or Brewing Science.
  • Previous experience in a brewing, food, or beverage industry laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques for beverages.
  • Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
  • Experience with statistical analysis of data.
