Job Description
Are you ready to kickstart a rewarding career as a professional truck driver? FedEx Freight is offering a comprehensive Paid Driver Development Program designed for individuals with little to no prior CDL-A experience. This immersive program provides the essential classroom instruction and hands-on behind-the-wheel training required to obtain your Class A CDL and launch your career with one of the most recognized names in the transportation industry. You will be compensated throughout your training, receiving expert guidance from experienced instructors, and upon successful completion and licensure, you will transition directly into a driving role with FedEx Freight.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in all classroom and yard training sessions.
- Learn and demonstrate proficiency in pre-trip and post-trip inspections, basic vehicle control, and safe driving practices.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely under instructor supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Study and pass all required written and practical exams for CDL-A licensure.
- Maintain accurate logs and records as required during training.
- Communicate effectively with instructors, peers, and operational staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned during the training program.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug screen.
- Ability to read, speak, and write English sufficiently to perform the job and comply with federal regulations.
- Willingness to learn and commit to a rigorous training program.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- No prior CDL-A experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery or vehicles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- A strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
