Job Description
Are you a passionate film student with a keen eye for detail and an encyclopedic knowledge of film genres? Netflix is looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Entry Level Genre Specialist to join our content classification team. This unique opportunity is perfect for recent graduates or current students with a deep understanding of cinematic narratives, visual storytelling, and genre conventions. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our vast library of films and series is accurately categorized, helping millions of subscribers discover their next favorite show or movie. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and categorize new and existing content based on specific genre guidelines.
- Apply detailed metadata tags to films and series, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with content teams to understand new acquisitions and their unique genre characteristics.
- Provide insights on emerging genre trends and audience preferences.
- Participate in quality control and data auditing processes to maintain high standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of genre classification systems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of film theory, critical analysis, and industry standards.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Film Studies, Media Arts, or related program.
- Deep passion for and extensive knowledge of film and television genres.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to articulate genre distinctions and apply complex classification rules.
- Proficiency in basic office software and willingness to learn new classification tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with film analysis, criticism, or academic research.
- Familiarity with various international cinematic traditions and genres.
- Knowledge of current streaming content and audience consumption patterns.
- Portfolio or writing samples demonstrating critical analysis of film/TV.
