Job Description
Are you passionate about helping young people develop their English conversational skills? iTalki is seeking enthusiastic and patient Online Language Practice Partners to engage with 14-year-old teens in a supportive and fun virtual environment. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a student’s language journey by simply practicing conversation, listening, and encouraging their confidence. This role is 100% remote, offering you the flexibility to work from your preferred location.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging and interactive online conversation sessions with 14-year-old teens.
- Help teens practice their target language (primarily English) in a natural, low-pressure setting.
- Encourage active participation, ask open-ended questions, and facilitate discussions on various topics relevant to teenagers.
- Provide constructive feedback and gentle corrections to aid language development.
- Tailor conversation topics and activities to match the individual interests and proficiency levels of the teens.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and patient demeanor throughout all sessions.
- Be punctual and prepared for all scheduled online sessions.
- Ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all participants.
Required Skills
- Excellent command of the English language (native or near-native fluency is essential).
- Strong conversational and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated patience and ability to connect effectively with teenagers.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable online communication setup (webcam, microphone, quiet environment).
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
- Exceptional listening skills and an empathetic approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with teenagers in an educational, mentorship, or informal tutoring role.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and video conferencing tools.
- A background or interest in education, linguistics, or child development.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus, though the primary focus is English practice.
