Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Museum Guest Services professional with a passion for cultural institutions to join our team. In this role, you will be the welcoming face of the Langson IMCA, providing exceptional service to all visitors, ensuring their experience is enjoyable, informative, and memorable. You will be responsible for handling admissions, providing information about exhibitions and programs, assisting with gift shop transactions, and ensuring the overall safety and comfort of our guests. This position requires a proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in art and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome all visitors to the museum.
  • Process admission tickets, memberships, and gift shop purchases accurately using a POS system.
  • Provide visitors with information about current and upcoming exhibitions, museum programs, and general facilities.
  • Assist visitors with wayfinding and answer general inquiries, offering recommendations to enhance their visit.
  • Manage crowd flow and ensure compliance with museum policies and safety guidelines.
  • Handle visitor feedback, complaints, and emergencies with professionalism and a calm demeanor.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation and securing the front desk area.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive environment for all guests and colleagues.
  • Support other museum departments as needed during special events or busy periods.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service or guest relations experience, preferably in a cultural, hospitality, or retail setting.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a museum, gallery, or similar cultural institution.
  • Familiarity with California art and artists.
  • Multilingual abilities (especially Spanish or Mandarin).
  • Experience with ticketing software and CRM systems.
