Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Studio Recording Engineer to join our team for night shifts. This is a unique opportunity to work with top-tier recording equipment in a professional, high-energy environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of audio engineering principles, a meticulous ear, and a passion for creating exceptional sound. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining advanced recording consoles, microphones, and outboard gear, ensuring flawless recording sessions for a diverse range of artists. This role requires flexibility to work primarily during evening and overnight hours, catering to our clients’ creative schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wide array of top-tier analog and digital recording equipment, including mixing consoles, preamps, compressors, and microphones.
  • Set up microphones and signal paths for recording various instruments and vocals, ensuring optimal sound capture.
  • Engineer recording sessions, tracking, overdubbing, and mixing, adhering to artistic vision and technical specifications.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues with studio equipment, performing basic maintenance and coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with producers, artists, and other studio personnel to achieve desired sonic outcomes.
  • Ensure the studio environment is clean, organized, and session-ready at all times.
  • Digitally archive and manage session files, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Provide creative input and technical solutions to enhance recordings when appropriate.
  • Adhere to strict timelines and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
  • Work primarily during night shifts, including weekends and holidays as required by studio bookings.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a recording engineer in a studio setting.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live).
  • Expert knowledge of microphone placement techniques and signal flow.
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, gain staging, compression, EQ, and other audio processing techniques.
  • Experience with both analog and digital mixing consoles and outboard gear.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.
  • A keen ear for detail and a passion for high-fidelity audio.
  • Reliability and punctuality for scheduled night shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with various musical genres and production styles.
  • Familiarity with studio management software.
  • Basic soldering and equipment repair skills.
  • Portfolio of recorded and mixed tracks.
