Job Description
Are you a vibrant and energetic 15-year-old looking for your first step into the bustling world of hospitality? Ruby Slipper Cafe in the historic French Quarter is seeking enthusiastic Host/Hostesses to join our team for night and weekend shifts. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to gain valuable customer service skills, work in a dynamic environment, and earn great tips. You’ll be the first friendly face our guests see, setting the tone for their dining experience. We’re looking for individuals who are reliable, eager to learn, and passionate about providing excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet guests as they arrive and thank them as they depart.
- Manage the waitlist and seating chart efficiently, ensuring fair and timely seating.
- Escort guests to their tables, providing menus and introducing them to their server.
- Answer phone calls with a cheerful demeanor, taking reservations and answering inquiries.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the host stand and waiting areas.
- Help servers with minor tasks such as refilling water glasses or clearing tables when needed.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers to manage table turns and guest flow.
- Handle guest comments and concerns with grace, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
Required Skills

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
