Job Description

Ritual Coffee Roasters is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Coffee Roastery Production Assistant to join our vibrant team in SOMA, San Francisco. As a Coffee Roastery Production Assistant, you will be an integral part of our production team, supporting the daily operations of our roasting facility. Your day will begin early, ensuring that our roasters have everything they need to produce the finest beans, and you’ll be involved in various stages from green bean intake to packaging and preparing orders for dispatch. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining our high standards of quality and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the receiving, weighing, and storage of green coffee beans.
• Support roasters by staging green coffee and preparing batches for roasting.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of green coffee, roasted coffee, and packaging supplies.
• Operate and maintain production equipment, including grinders, packaging machines, and scales.
• Package roasted coffee beans accurately and efficiently, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
• Prepare daily orders for shipping and local delivery, ensuring all items are correctly picked and packed.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the roastery facility and equipment to uphold hygiene standards.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and food production guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, particularly for early morning starts.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety and hygiene practices.
• Reliable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a production, warehouse, or food-related environment.
• Familiarity with coffee production processes or a keen interest in specialty coffee.
• Experience operating light machinery or forklifts (certification not required, but a plus).
