Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Pharmacy Billing Coordinator to join our administrative team. This role is crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of pharmacy claims, contributing directly to the financial health of our pharmacy operations and the seamless experience for our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong administrative background, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Process pharmacy claims accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all billing regulations and payor guidelines.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and prior authorization requirements for pharmacy services.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies, denials, and rejections through thorough investigation and follow-up with insurance companies and patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment options, and financial assistance programs.
  • Maintain precise and confidential billing records, documentation, and patient information.
  • Collaborate closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other administrative staff to ensure smooth workflow and optimal billing practices.
  • Assist with the appeals process for denied claims, preparing necessary documentation and correspondence.
  • Stay updated on changes in billing codes, insurance policies, and regulatory requirements relevant to pharmacy services.

Required Skills

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Basic understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology, as well as billing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (1-2 years) in medical billing, pharmacy billing, or a related administrative role within a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and various insurance carrier requirements.
  • Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CPB).
