Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Medical Gas Cylinder Porter to join our dedicated team at Weston General Hospital. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and delivery of medical gas cylinders throughout the hospital premises. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport medical gas cylinders to various departments and wards within the hospital.
- Manage the inventory of medical gas cylinders, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper rotation.
- Conduct routine safety checks on cylinders and equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including manual handling guidelines and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- Assist with the receipt and dispatch of gas cylinders from suppliers, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Maintain a clean and organised medical gas storage area.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and other departments regarding gas cylinder availability and delivery schedules.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions relevant to the role and hospital policies.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow strict safety protocols and procedures.
- Good physical fitness for manual handling tasks (appropriate training will be provided).
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a portering or logistics role, particularly within a healthcare setting.

- Current manual handling training certificate.
