Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Forklift Dockhand to join our dynamic logistics hub in Southaven, MS. In this fast-paced environment, you will be instrumental in the efficient movement of freight, ensuring timely loading and unloading of trailers using various types of forklifts. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume operation. Your contribution is vital to maintaining our operational excellence and meeting customer delivery promises.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve materials and products.
- Load and unload trailers, ensuring proper securing of freight and adherence to weight distribution guidelines.
- Perform daily inspections of forklifts and other material handling equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Scan and track inventory accurately using handheld devices and warehouse management systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including docks, aisles, and storage locations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and problem resolution.
- Assist with manual loading/unloading tasks and general warehouse duties as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, or reach truck) with a valid certification.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Basic computer proficiency for scanning and data entry.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a large-scale logistics or distribution center environment.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners.
- Experience with various types of freight and pallet configurations.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
