Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse (RN) to join our esteemed mental health facility within Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams and risk assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Administer medications, monitor for side effects, and educate patients on medication adherence and management.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and group therapy facilitation.
- Monitor and document patient progress, behavioral changes, and responses to treatment.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, adhering to all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and community resources.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
Required Skills
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse in an acute care or inpatient setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic communication techniques
- Ability to perform comprehensive mental health assessments and formulate care plans
- Excellent crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse (PMH-RN) certification
- Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural competency
- Familiarity with Kaiser Permanente's integrated healthcare model
