Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Hospital Waste Management Porter to join our essential services team. This pivotal role involves the safe and efficient collection, segregation, and disposal of all types of waste generated within our hospital facilities, ensuring compliance with strict health and safety regulations and environmental standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, directly contributing to the overall well-being and operational efficiency of the hospital. This role requires physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of waste management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and transport various types of waste (general, clinical, recyclable) from designated areas throughout the hospital.
- Ensure proper segregation of waste streams in accordance with Trust policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Operate and maintain waste compactors, balers, and other waste handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor waste storage areas, ensuring they are kept clean, organised, and secure.
- Report any waste management issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards immediately to supervisors.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and health and safety procedures at all times.
- Assist with the delivery of supplies and movement of equipment as required, supporting overall hospital logistics.
- Maintain accurate records of waste collected and disposed of, where necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

- Full clean driving license (Category B).
