Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Mud Engineer Associate with a strong focus on chemical analysis to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. In this stable role, you will be instrumental in supporting drilling operations by performing critical chemical analyses of drilling fluids (mud). Your work will ensure fluid stability, optimize performance, and troubleshoot potential issues to maintain operational efficiency and safety. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about applied chemistry and eager to build a career in the energy services sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and specialized chemical tests on drilling fluids, including rheology, fluid loss, and contamination analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports on fluid properties and analysis results, providing recommendations for chemical adjustments.
  • Monitor and maintain drilling fluid systems to ensure optimal performance and stability according to engineering specifications.
  • Assist senior mud engineers in troubleshooting fluid-related problems and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of drilling fluid additives and chemicals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site training programs to enhance knowledge and skills in drilling fluid technology and chemical analysis.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Strong understanding of basic chemical principles and laboratory techniques.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report generation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various field locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in an industrial laboratory or field setting.
  • Knowledge of drilling fluid chemistry or related oilfield services.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard laboratory equipment and analytical software.
