Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Live Sound Technician with a strong focus on concert and touring productions to join our dynamic team based out of Boston, MA. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest quality audio experience for audiences and artists across various venues and tour stops. You will be responsible for the setup, operation, and strike of sound equipment for live performances, traveling extensively with productions as required. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with leading artists and production teams, with all travel expenses covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate front-of-house (FOH) and monitor mixing consoles for live concerts and events.
  • Set up, test, troubleshoot, and dismantle complex audio systems, including PA systems, monitors, microphones, and digital audio networks.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on sound equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with artists, tour managers, venue staff, and production teams to achieve desired audio results.
  • Conduct sound checks and adjust audio levels to optimize sound quality for various genres and venues.
  • Ensure safety compliance with all audio equipment rigging and operation standards.
  • Travel extensively with tours, adapting to diverse environments and schedules.
  • Maintain inventory and secure handling of all assigned audio equipment.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Live Sound Technician, specifically in concert or touring environments.
  • Proficiency with digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Avid VENUE, Yamaha CL/QL, Midas, SSL).
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, gain structure, and equalization techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot audio problems quickly and effectively under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of wireless microphone systems and in-ear monitors.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in audio engineering or related fields.
  • Experience with network audio protocols (Dante, AVB, MADI).
  • Familiarity with various types of line arrays and speaker systems.
  • Experience in a leadership or crew chief role on a touring production.
  • Proficiency with audio measurement software (e.g., Smaart).
