Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Petrochemical Lab Tech to join our team in South Burlington, Vermont. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with a foundational understanding of chemical principles and a passion for hands-on laboratory work, specifically focused on chemical testing within the petrochemical sector. You will play a crucial role in supporting our research and development efforts and ensuring the quality and integrity of our products through meticulous sample preparation, analysis, and data documentation. This is an on-site role requiring a dedicated presence in our state-of-the-art laboratory facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical testing and analysis on petrochemical samples using a variety of laboratory equipment and established protocols.
- Prepare samples for testing, including weighing, measuring, and mixing reagents with precision.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments such as GC, HPLC, spectrometers, and titrators.
- Accurately record, organize, and report test results, ensuring data integrity and adherence to quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot basic equipment malfunctions or testing anomalies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, strictly following all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Assist senior technicians and chemists with more complex experiments and special projects.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including chemicals and consumables, and assist with ordering supplies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Basic knowledge of chemical testing methodologies and laboratory safety practices.
- Proficiency in using standard laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting (e.g., internships, capstone projects).
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Understanding of petrochemical products and their testing requirements.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
