Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented R&D Laboratory Associate to join our dynamic research and development team in Joliet, Illinois. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals eager to begin a career in scientific research, offering significant potential for growth and development within our state-of-the-art laboratory environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting various R&D projects, gaining hands-on experience with experimental procedures, data analysis, and laboratory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior scientists and researchers in the setup and execution of laboratory experiments following established protocols.
- Accurately record, organize, and report experimental data, observations, and results.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and media according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace, adhering strictly to safety guidelines and quality control standards.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and ensuring proper stock levels.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and safety practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and protocols precisely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting (e.g., through internships, research projects, or coursework).
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, or PCR.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot basic laboratory equipment issues.
- A proactive and curious mindset with a strong desire for continuous learning.
