Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Rooms to lead our Rooms Division team at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, and potentially Spa/Recreation operations, ensuring an elevated guest experience consistent with luxury hotel standards. The Director of Rooms will drive operational excellence, optimize financial performance, foster a culture of service, and continuously seek innovative ways to enhance guest satisfaction. This position requires a visionary leader with a strong background in high-end hospitality and a commitment to meticulous detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Front Office, Concierge, Guest Services, Housekeeping, and Uniformed Services departments.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental goals, including guest satisfaction scores, financial targets, and employee engagement.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate department managers and staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to service standards.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses, labor costs, and inventory to maximize profitability without compromising service quality.
- Ensure compliance with all brand standards, safety regulations, and local ordinances.
- Handle complex guest complaints and operational challenges with professionalism and efficiency, ensuring swift resolution.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments (Sales, F&B, Engineering) to ensure seamless guest experiences and operational synergy.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with guests, vendors, and community partners.
- Prepare and analyze reports on occupancy, revenue, guest satisfaction, and operational performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations to continually enhance service offerings and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Rooms Division management within a luxury hotel setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control.
- Proficiency in hotel management systems (PMS), particularly Marriott systems (e.g., Opera PMS).
- Proven track record of delivering outstanding guest service and achieving high guest satisfaction scores.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience with the Autograph Collection or other luxury Marriott brands.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus, given the international clientele.
- Certification in hotel operations or related fields.
