Job Description

Amnesty International is seeking a passionate and dedicated Remote Human Rights Advocate to join our global policy team. This is a 100% remote Work From Home (WFH) role, allowing you to contribute to critical human rights policy development and advocacy from anywhere within the United States. You will play a vital role in researching, analyzing, and developing strategies to address human rights violations worldwide, influencing international policy and promoting accountability. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of international human rights law, and a commitment to justice, freedom, and human dignity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on human rights issues and policy developments globally, identifying trends and potential advocacy opportunities.
  • Develop compelling advocacy strategies and evidence-based policy recommendations for governments, international bodies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, briefings, press releases, and other advocacy materials for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Monitor and analyze relevant international human rights treaties, mechanisms, and legal frameworks to inform policy positions.
  • Collaborate effectively with Amnesty International's global teams, national sections, and external partners to coordinate and strengthen advocacy efforts.
  • Represent Amnesty International in meetings, conferences, public forums, and with policymakers, articulating our positions and objectives.
  • Contribute to fundraising proposals and donor reports, demonstrating the impact of our policy work.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Rights, International Relations, Law, Political Science, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in human rights advocacy, policy analysis, international law, or a similar capacity.
  • Demonstrated profound knowledge of international human rights law, principles, and mechanisms.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and persuasive writing.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, remote team environment.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.) in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, such as Spanish, French, Arabic, or Mandarin.
  • Prior experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and international, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in digital advocacy tools and strategies.
  • Familiarity with specific human rights issues or regions relevant to current global challenges.
