Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our team. This full-time position, Monday through Friday, plays a crucial role in delivering essential public health services to the residents of Pasco and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing community health needs, developing and implementing health education programs, providing direct nursing care in various community settings, and contributing to disease surveillance and outbreak response efforts. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on community health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments for individuals and families in community settings.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate health education programs on topics such as immunizations, chronic disease management, maternal and child health, and communicable disease prevention.
- Provide direct nursing care, including screenings, vaccinations, and health counseling, at clinics, schools, and other community sites.
- Participate in disease surveillance activities, including case investigation and contact tracing for communicable diseases.
- Collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and other agencies to coordinate services and address public health priorities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Respond to public health emergencies and participate in preparedness activities as required.
- Advocate for policies and programs that promote health equity and improve community health.
- Provide expert consultation and guidance to individuals and groups on public health matters.
Required Skills
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and basic computer applications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or related field.
- Experience working in a public health setting or community health role.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) to serve our diverse community.
- Certification in Public Health (CPH).
