Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DME (Medical Equipment) Pharmacy Tech with a focus on home care to join our team in Casper, Wyoming. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in ensuring patients receive the correct and timely medical equipment and supplies needed for their in-home care. You will manage inventory, process orders, verify prescriptions, and provide essential support and education to patients and their caregivers regarding the proper use and maintenance of their durable medical equipment. This position requires a strong commitment to patient safety, accuracy, and excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and prepare DME orders accurately and efficiently for home delivery or patient pickup.
  • Maintain precise inventory control of medical equipment and supplies, including receiving, stocking, and dispensing.
  • Verify patient prescriptions, insurance information, and authorizations for durable medical equipment.
  • Provide clear and compassionate education to patients or caregivers on the proper use, cleaning, and troubleshooting of medical equipment.
  • Coordinate effectively with nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Address patient inquiries, concerns, and equipment-related issues with professionalism and urgency.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and calibration on certain equipment as required.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent state registration/licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting, with a preference for DME experience.
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology, basic anatomy, and pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move medical equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience specifically with home care services or extensive patient education.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) to better serve a diverse patient population.
