Job Description
Join UnityPoint Health as a Visiting Home Health Aide and become a vital part of our compassionate care team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this essential role, you will provide personalized care and support to clients in their homes, helping them maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance.
- Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercises as outlined in the care plan.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks essential to health and safety, such as laundry and tidying client areas.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are observed.
- Remind clients to take medications and monitor for any changes in condition, reporting concerns to supervising nurse.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities.
- Assist with errands and appointments, ensuring safe transportation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided and client observations.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
Required Skills
- Current Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Iowa.
- Valid Iowa driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proof of automobile insurance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong empathy, patience, and compassion for clients.
- Ability to lift, stand, walk, and bend as required by client care needs.
- Basic computer skills for documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Home Health Aide or CNA in a home care setting.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to speak a second language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic) to support diverse client populations.
