Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Education Policy Associate to join our dynamic team in Olathe, Kansas. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about education reform and policy, with a particular interest in K-12 and higher education systems. The Associate will contribute to research, analysis, and advocacy efforts that inform and influence education policy at local, state, and national levels. This is an entry-level position offering significant growth opportunities for a candidate eager to make a tangible impact on educational equity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on K-12 and higher education policy issues, trends, and legislative proposals.
  • Prepare policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials for various stakeholders.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at local and state levels relevant to our mission.
  • Support the development and implementation of advocacy strategies to advance Teach For America's policy priorities.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating meetings, workshops, and events with policymakers, community leaders, and educational stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure policy work aligns with organizational goals and programmatic initiatives.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for policy-related projects and initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience crafting professional reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated interest in K-12 and higher education policy issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or volunteer experience in education, policy, or non-profit sectors.
  • Familiarity with legislative processes and policy advocacy.
  • Experience with data analysis software or statistical tools (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS).
  • Understanding of the educational landscape in Kansas or the broader Midwest region.
