Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our Sod Laying & Rolling Crew. This active, outdoor role involves the physical installation and maintenance of sod, ensuring the highest quality finish for our clients’ landscapes. If you enjoy working outdoors, being part of a team, and seeing immediate results from your efforts, this opportunity is for you. This is a hands-on position requiring physical stamina and a commitment to quality workmanship in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ground for sod installation by grading, raking, and applying soil amendments.
- Lay sod rolls and slabs according to precise specifications and design plans.
- Operate rolling equipment to ensure proper sod-to-soil contact and a smooth, even surface.
- Cut and trim sod to fit irregular shapes and edges using appropriate tools.
- Assist with loading and unloading sod, tools, and other materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and equipment.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures established by BrightView.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete projects on schedule.
- Perform other related landscaping duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety practices in a construction or outdoor environment.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or a similar physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with sod installation techniques.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating small landscaping equipment (e.g., sod cutters, tillers).
