Job Description

Join Swedish Medical Center as a Hospital Sitter in a Patient Observation Role. As a Hospital Sitter, you will provide continuous direct observation of patients who are at risk of injury to themselves or others, ensuring their safety and well-being. This role focuses on proactive observation and non-clinical support, offering a ‘no stress’ environment where your primary goal is vigilance and companionship, allowing clinical staff to focus on medical care. You will be a crucial part of our care team, contributing to a safe and healing environment for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous observation of assigned patients, maintaining a clear line of sight at all times.
  • Alert nursing staff immediately to any changes in patient behavior, condition, or signs of distress.
  • Assist patients with non-medical needs such as finding comfortable positions or fetching items within reach.
  • Engage in supportive, non-therapeutic conversation with patients as appropriate.
  • Maintain a calm and reassuring presence in the patient's room.
  • Document observations accurately as required by facility protocols.
  • Ensure the patient's immediate environment is safe and free of hazards.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
