Job Description
As a UPS Ambulance Driver – Facility Medical Support, you will play a critical role in ensuring the immediate medical readiness and safety of our large-scale facilities in Overland Park, KS. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining a dedicated ambulance, providing emergency medical care to employees in the event of an accident or medical emergency, and supporting facility-wide health and safety initiatives. This position requires a highly skilled, compassionate, and reliable individual dedicated to swift response and professional medical intervention within an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a company-provided ambulance in a state of readiness, including daily vehicle and equipment checks.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to medical emergencies and incidents within the UPS facility.
- Provide basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) as appropriate to injured or ill employees, following established protocols.
- Safely transport employees to local medical facilities when necessary, ensuring continuous patient care during transit.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of medical incidents, patient care, treatment provided, and vehicle logs.
- Assist with facility-wide health and safety drills, training programs, and preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal medical transport regulations, as well as company safety policies.
- Collaborate with facility management, HR, and safety teams on incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up.
- Manage and restock medical supplies and equipment, ensuring everything is readily available and within expiration dates.
Required Skills
- Valid State Driver's License (CDL preferred, but not required for initial hire).
- Current EMT or Paramedic certification (NREMT or equivalent State certification).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS and PALS preferred.
- Clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Ability to lift and move patients with assistance, often in emergency situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective under pressure in emergency situations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping and incident reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent certification.
- Previous experience (1+ year) as an ambulance driver or EMT in an industrial, corporate, or large-facility setting.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards.
- Experience with electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) systems.
