Job Description

Join WVU Medicine as a Behavioral Health Music Lead, where your clinical expertise in music therapy will shape and lead our innovative behavioral health programs. This pivotal role involves direct patient care, program development, and clinical supervision within a supportive and stable environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based music therapy programs for diverse behavioral health populations.
  • Provide direct clinical music therapy services, including individual and group sessions, across various inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Supervise and mentor junior music therapists, interns, and support staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to integrate music therapy goals into comprehensive care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives for music therapy services within the behavioral health department.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in music therapy and behavioral health, integrating new knowledge into practice.

Required Skills

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in behavioral health settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership and program development capabilities.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of therapeutic music interventions and techniques.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation abilities.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and patient-centered care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Music Therapy or a related field.
  • Experience with specific populations such as trauma, substance use disorders, or severe mental illness.
  • Experience in an academic medical center or a large healthcare system.
  • Additional certifications in related therapeutic modalities.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
