Job Description

As a FedEx HVAC Technician for Corporate Building Support, you will play a crucial role in maintaining optimal climate control and air quality within our corporate offices in The Loop, Chicago. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role ensures a comfortable, safe, and efficient working environment for our employees, directly contributing to our operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and cooling towers.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems promptly and efficiently.
  • Install, replace, and calibrate HVAC system components and controls.
  • Monitor and adjust Building Management Systems (BMS) to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot HVAC issues outside of regular business hours when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with other facilities team members and external contractors on larger projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Technician.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and plumbing related to HVAC.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or vocational training in HVAC technology.
  • NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification.
  • Experience with specific Building Management Systems (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell).
  • Prior experience in a corporate or commercial building environment.
