Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Adhesives Chemist with a strong focus on product development to join our dynamic R&D team in Murrieta, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of new adhesive formulations, optimizing existing products, and providing technical support for manufacturing and sales teams. This role requires a hands-on approach to laboratory work, critical thinking, and a passion for material science innovation within the adhesives industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize new adhesive formulations, including pressure-sensitive, structural, and specialty adhesives.
- Conduct comprehensive laboratory testing and analysis of raw materials and finished products to ensure performance and quality standards.
- Manage multiple product development projects from concept through commercialization, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, sales, and marketing to support product launch and post-launch activities.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to adhesive performance, processing, and application.
- Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, results, and procedures, generating detailed technical reports and presentations.
Required Skills
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in adhesives product development (industrial, automotive, or electronics adhesives preferred).
- Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry, rheology, and adhesive formulation principles.
- Proficiency in various analytical techniques used for material characterization (e.g., FTIR, DSC, DMA, TMA, GC, HPLC).
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements relevant to adhesive products (e.g., REACH, RoHS).
- Previous experience mentoring junior chemists or technicians.
