Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically capable Turf Laying Helper to join our team for weekend work in Zephyrhills, FL. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for consistent part-time employment, particularly those who enjoy working outdoors and engaging in hands-on tasks. As a Turf Laying Helper, you will assist our experienced crews in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various turf types, contributing directly to the beauty and functionality of our clients’ landscapes. While prior experience is a plus, it is not required; we are willing to train enthusiastic candidates. You will be responsible for moving and placing sod, preparing ground, and ensuring proper irrigation setup. This role requires significant physical stamina and the ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ground for turf installation, including clearing debris and leveling surfaces.
- Unload, transport, and lay rolls or slabs of sod according to specifications.
- Help with the cutting and fitting of turf around obstacles and edges.
- Participate in the maintenance of newly laid turf, including watering and rolling.
- Clean up work sites, ensuring all tools and materials are stored properly at the end of each shift.
- Operate basic hand tools and potentially some light power equipment under supervision.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects efficiently.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Reliable and punctual, especially for weekend shifts.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or other outdoor physical labor roles.
- Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience using hand tools common in landscaping.
