Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Clinical Pharmacy Assistant to join our professional team in New Port Richey, Florida. In this vital role, you will work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical services. Your primary focus will be to support clinical operations, maintain patient records, assist with medication preparation, and contribute to a smooth workflow within the pharmacy. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Manage and update patient profiles, including medication histories, allergies, and insurance information.
- Process prescription orders, including data entry, verification, and prior authorizations.
- Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and coordinating with healthcare providers.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and patient consultations.
- Support the clinical team in various administrative tasks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice.
- Assist with sterile and non-sterile compounding under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or eligibility to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and data entry
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
- Knowledge of insurance billing and prior authorization processes
