Job Description
Are you a compassionate and reliable individual with a passion for helping seniors maintain their independence? Home Instead in New Port Richey, FL, is seeking dedicated Private Motorists with a focus on non-medical senior care. In this essential role, you will provide safe and dependable transportation for our senior clients to appointments, errands, social engagements, and more. Beyond driving, you’ll offer companionship, assist with light personal care (if needed), and ensure our clients feel supported and valued. This is more than just a driving job; it’s an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors in your community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and reliable transportation for senior clients to medical appointments, grocery stores, pharmacies, social outings, and other destinations.
- Assist clients with getting in and out of the vehicle safely.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in conversation during trips and while waiting.
- Help clients with errands, including carrying groceries or packages.
- Maintain a clean and comfortable vehicle for client transport.
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and Home Instead staff regarding schedules and client well-being.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Document mileage and time accurately.
- Provide light personal care assistance or medication reminders as part of the broader non-medical care plan, if required and trained.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Proof of auto insurance and reliable vehicle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sense of empathy, patience, and compassion for seniors.
- Ability to follow schedules and directions accurately.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in caregiving, senior support, or customer service roles.
- Familiarity with the New Port Richey and surrounding Pasco County areas.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- High school diploma or GED.
