Job Description

Are you a passionate music enthusiast with a knack for social media and a burning desire to kickstart your career in music PR? FleishmanHillard is seeking a motivated and energetic Junior Music Publicist to join our dynamic team in Laredo. This entry-level role is perfect for someone eager to learn the ropes of music publicity, with a strong emphasis on digital strategy and social media engagement. You will support senior publicists in developing and executing PR campaigns for a diverse roster of musical artists and projects, helping to shape their public image and expand their reach in the digital landscape. This is an on-site position where you will work closely with our local team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior publicists in developing and executing comprehensive PR strategies for music artists and projects.
  • Draft compelling press releases, media alerts, bios, and other promotional materials.
  • Manage and maintain artist social media channels, developing content calendars and engaging with online communities.
  • Conduct media research to identify relevant outlets, journalists, bloggers, and influencers in the music industry.
  • Support media outreach efforts, including pitching stories and coordinating interviews.
  • Monitor media coverage and social media conversations, compiling reports and analyzing campaign performance.
  • Organize and maintain press kits, digital assets, and contact databases.
  • Coordinate logistics for media events, photoshoots, and artist appearances.
  • Stay current with music industry trends, social media best practices, and emerging digital platforms.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Music Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable passion for music and a strong understanding of various genres.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) and understanding of their analytical tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship experience in PR, marketing, or the music industry.
  • Familiarity with PR software and media monitoring tools (e.g., Cision, Muck Rack).
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) for social media content creation.
  • Experience with content creation for social media (e.g., short-form video, graphics).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, given the location.
