Job Description
The Linen Chute Clearer plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our hotel by ensuring the efficient and timely handling of soiled linen. This position is primarily based in the hotel basement and involves physical labor, including heavy lifting, to manage and transport large volumes of linen. You will be responsible for clearing linen chutes, sorting linen, and preparing it for laundry services, contributing directly to the cleanliness and operational flow of our luxury establishment.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly clear linen chutes located throughout the hotel, ensuring no blockages occur.
- Collect, sort, and transport soiled linen from various collection points to the designated laundry areas in the hotel basement.
- Perform heavy lifting and repetitive tasks involving large bags or bundles of linen.
- Operate trolleys, carts, and other equipment safely and efficiently for linen transport.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of linen storage and sorting areas in the basement.
- Adhere to all hotel safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of soiled materials.
- Communicate any issues or concerns regarding linen flow or equipment to supervisors promptly.
- Assist with other general duties in the basement or laundry area as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting repeatedly (up to 50 lbs) and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality and attendance.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Awareness of safety procedures and ability to work safely in a busy environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Basic communication skills.
