Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chemistry Project Lead to join our dynamic Pharmaceutical R&D team. This pivotal role involves leading complex chemistry projects from conception to completion, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of drug candidates. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in pharmaceutical chemistry, exceptional project management skills, and a proven track record of bringing projects through various development stages within a rigorous regulatory environment. This is a strategic position demanding a visionary leader capable of influencing cross-functional teams and contributing significantly to our pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple chemistry projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Provide expert scientific guidance and strategic direction to project teams.
- Oversee the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel chemical entities.
- Collaborate with discovery biology, pharmacology, ADME, and toxicology teams to advance drug candidates.
- Present project updates and strategic recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure all project activities comply with regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA) and internal SOPs.
- Mentor and develop junior chemists and project team members.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, with at least 3 years in a project leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and drug discovery processes.
- Proven ability to manage complex scientific projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of cGMP and regulatory requirements in pharmaceutical development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a broad range of therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, immunology).
- Familiarity with computational chemistry tools and techniques.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Track record of successful IND submissions.
